Resumen de Ephedrepites Strobilaceus Nov. Comb. and polymorphism within Ephedroid pollen grains of the Tate Cretaceous and Early Tertiary of Southern Nigeria
Ephedra strobilacea type, figured but not described by Kuyl, Muller and Waterbolk 1955 is newly described and recombined as Ephedrepites strobilaceus nov. comb. This recombination follows the validation of the form genus Ephedrepites, by Potonié (1958). Its stratigraphical distribution within the Late Cretaceous and Early Tertiary of southern Nigeria is discussed. Additional pollen grains belonging to the Ephedrales are described and illustrated. They are polymorphic, and present some difficulties about classification into form species. Furthermore, they do not appear to be stratigraphically significant.
