  Sociological and anthropological studies that have as subject the inheritance and succession in the country family revealed the existence of a large range of behaviour despite the fact that one only juridical system covers the· portuguese population. They also outlined the narrow link between economical needs of every social group and its behaviour. Historical studies have nevertheless alow the introduction of others explanation elements such as tradition and continuity. They also analyse the frequent adaptations introduced by the country family at the time that modifications on the juridical system or economic conjuncture endangered their main purpose: the indivisibility of exploitations and the maintenance of home's social reputation.

  Les études sociologiques et anthropologiques qui ont comme object l'heritage et la succession dans la famille paysanne, ont révelé l'existence d'une grande diversité de comportements malgré Ie fait d'un mêrne systême juridique couvrir toute la population portugaise. Ils ont aussi mis en evidence une étroite liaisson entre les nécessités económiques de chaque groupe social et les comportements qu'il adopte.

  Les études historiques ont, toutefois, possibilité l'introdution d'autres elements explicatifs comme la tradition et la continuité. lis ont aussi analysé les frequentes adaptations introduites par la famille paysanne au moment que les altérations du systêrne juridique ou de la conjunture ecónomique mettaient en danger son principal objectif: l'indivisibilté de la exploration et la manutention de prestige social de la maison.
