Resumen de El cognitivismo estético de John Dewey

El presente artículo desarrolla la hipótesis de que existiría en la teoría estética de John Dewey una especie de “cognitivismo suave”. Para alcanzar este objetivo, la investigación se ha dividido en cuatro fases. En la primera de ellas, una breve introducción presenta la cuestión del cognitivismo. A continuación, se analiza cómo John Dewey resignifica los conceptos, posibilitando así la formulación de otra teoría. En tercer lugar, se retoma el duodécimo capítulo de su libro El arte como experiencia, de 1934, donde se explica mejor su postura. Por último, a modo de conclusión, se apunta la importancia de esta perspectiva para el diálogo estético contemporáneo.

This article develops the hypothesis that there would be a kind of “soft cognitivism” in John Dewey’s aesthetic theory. To achieve the goal, the following inquiry was decomposed into four steps. In the first one, a brief introduction presents the issue of cognitivism. In the next step, it is analyzed how John Dewey re-signifies concepts, thus making it possible to formulate another theory. In the third part, the twelfth chapter of his 1934 book Art as Experience is revisited, where his position is better explained. Finally, in a conclusion, notes are made about the importance of this perspective for contemporary aesthetic dialogue.
