    This work seeks to understand the conditions of existence and the particularities of the evolution of agrarian societies in the region of Tombali, southern province of Guinea Bissau and their respective forms of local agriculture. In this sense, we sought to warn of the natural and historical conditions that illustrate the development of agriculture in this region, in order to specify its characteristics and the current situation of Tombáli agriculture. Using the agrarian systems approach, the different stages of the evolution and differentiation of agriculture in the study region were identified. The study involves three distinct parts Initially, the geographic and socioeconomic synthesis of Tombali was carried out, focusing on an aspect related to agriculture. Then, geographic aspects of two sectors (east and west) of this region are exposed, as an important factor influencing the development of agriculture. Finally, it presents the evolution and differentiation of agrarian systems in the region and their particularities in the development of local agriculture.

    Este trabalho procura compreender as condições de existência e as particularidades da evolução das sociedades agrárias na região de Tombali província Sul da Guiné-Bissau e de suas respectivas formas de agricultura local. Nesse sentido, buscou-se advertir os condicionantes naturais e históricos que ilustrassem o desenvolvimento da agricultura desta região, de forma a especificar suas características e a atual situação da agricultura tombaliensse. Utilizando a abordagem de sistemas agrários, identificou-se as diferentes etapas da evolução e diferenciação da agricultura da região de estudo. O estudo envolve três partes distintas. Inicialmente, foi realizada a síntese geográfica e socioeconômica de Tombali, focando para aspecto relacionada à agricultura. Em seguida, são expostos aspectos geográfico de dois setores (leste e oeste) desta região, como fator importante que influência no desenvolvimento da agricultura. Por fim, apresenta-se a evolução e diferenciação dos sistemas agrá­rios na região e suas particularidades do desenvolvimento da agricultura local.
