    The relationships between human values, attitudes, engagement, and academic performance in students who took the ENEM 2021 test were investigated. 170 students (77,1% women; Mean age of 18.88 ± 2,21 years) enrolled in preparatory courses for college exams, in the cities of Petrolina (PE) and Juazeiro (BA), Brazil, took part of the study. A sociodemographic questionnaire, scales of attitudes towards the school context and towards learning, school engagement and human values, and the grades obtained in ENEM 2021 were used as research instruments. Values, attitudes, and school engagement were significantly associated. Furthermore, normative values predicted scores in three areas on the ENEM. These results are confronted with other studies that investigated the influence of motivational components of values on learning processes in the school context. We also discuss the contribution of our findings to interventions actions of planning and evaluation of the Brazilian educational system.

    Investigou-se as relações entre valores humanos, atitudes, engajamento e desempenho acadêmico em estudantes que fizeram as provas do ENEM 2021. Participaram do estudo 170 estudantes (77,1% mulheres; idade média de 18,88 ± 2,21 anos) de cursos preparatórios para o vestibular, das cidades de Petrolina (PE) e Juazeiro (BA), no Brasil. Um questionário sociodemográfico, escalas de atitudes frente ao contexto escolar e frente à aprendizagem, de engajamento escolar e de valores humanos, além das notas obtidas no ENEM 2021 foram empregados como instrumentos de pesquisa. Os valores, as atitudes e o engajamento escolar se associaram significativamente. Ademais, valores normativos predisseram as notas em três áreas no ENEM. Esses resultados são confrontados com outros estudos que investigaram a influência de componentes motivacionais dos valores sobre os processos de aprendizagem em contexto escolar. Discute-se ainda a contribuição dos achados para ações de planejamento e avaliação do sistema educacional brasileiro.
