This paper is devoted to the source of the pseudo-Augustinian epitome Sermo ad fratres in eremo 67 (CPPM I, 1194). The article provides a study and a critical edition of the text. The extant reference edition (i.e. the Maurists edition, reprinted by Migne in his Patrologia Latina) does not meet the modern scientific standards. For this reason, the critical study aims to present and discuss the entire manuscript tradition known to this date, as well as to examine the newly reestablished text, much longer than the extant one. The Latin edition aims to restore the oldest state of the text and to provide the reader with its most relevant historical changes. The new text may encourage the study of the other sermons ad fratres in eremo as well as the analisys of their particular motives
