  • Resumen
    • Most structural engineers are very aware of the climate emergency and the urgent need for decarbonisation in the built environment. The use of structural concrete has, rightly, come under increasing scrutiny in recent years due to the carbon intensity of the material or, more specifically, the Portland cement which still makes up most of the binder in modern concrete.

As a result, many structural engineers are trying to understand what they can do to reduce the carbon associated with the concrete they specify. This article aims to provide some advice to structural engineers and concrete specifiers and highlight steps that can be taken to deliver lower-carbon concrete on projects.
