Anonymität oder markierte Pseudonymität deuten an, dass die Autor:in eines Textes sich in Gefahr befindet. Die Nichtnennung des Namens soll vor negativen Konsequenzen schützen. Ein solcher Schutz wäre bei einer fiktionalen Erzählung eigentlich nicht nötig, da die Erfundenheit von Handlung und Figuren referenzialisierende Lesarten ausschließen sollte. Trotzdem werden auch fiktionale Texte immer wieder anonym veröffentlicht. Diese Form der Publikation dient zwar vordergründig als Diskretionsstrategie, fungiert aber inoffiziell oft auch als Faktualitätssignal, das eine gefährliche oder skandalöse Realität hinter der Fiktion andeutet. So kann prekäre Autorschaft aufmerksamkeitsökonomisch effektiv inszeniert werden.

Anonymity or open pseudonymity indicate that the author of a text is in danger. The omission of the name is supposed to protect against negative consequences. Such protection would not be necessary in the case of a fictional narrative, since the inventedness of plot and characters should preclude any attempt to read the text as factual. Nevertheless, fictional texts are also published anonymously time and again. While this kind of publication ostensibly serves as a strategy of discretion, unofficially it often also functions as a signal of factuality that hints at a dangerous or scandalous reality behind the fiction. In this way, precarious authorship can be effectively staged.
