    José Martí, con 42 años, tiene su obra hecha: política, de cultura y ética, obra sobrehumana: echarse a cuestas una nación que pudo errar el rumbo. Su muerte está rodeada de incógnitas y detalles difíciles de aclarar. Este artículo aborda la muerte del Apóstol, la reunión de La Mejorana y los acontecimientos previos a su regreso definitivo a Cuba. Responde a un trabajo de contrastación de información, respeto a la metodología de la investigación histórica y veneración al ser humano objeto de los análisis realizados. Se persigue que prenda en otros profesionales y estudiantes, la pasión por conocer la dimensión humana y política de Martí. Se exaltan todas sus cualidades, que extrañamente concurren en un hombre. No por la forma en que muere, sino por su obra, es el Apóstol de Cuba, el más grande de los cubanos y el alma que los acompaña, el centro espiritual de la nación.

    José Martí, with 42 years, has his work done: politics, culture and ethics, superhuman work: a nation that was able to err on its way. His death is surrounded by unknowns and details difficult to clarify. This article addresses the death of the Apostle, the meeting of La Mejorana and the events prior to his definitive return to Cuba. It responds to a work of contrasting information, respect for the methodology of historical research and veneration of the human being object of the analyzes performed. The passion for knowing the human and political dimension of Martí is pursued in other professionals and students. All its qualities are exalted, which strangely concur in a man. Not because of the way he dies, but because of his work, he is the Apostle of Cuba, the greatest of Cubans and the soul that accompanies them, the spiritual center of the nation.
