Os suruí de Rondônia: Resistência e protagonismo em busca do desenvolvimento sustentável

    Many indigenous communities seek in their territory ways to earn income in order to meet the diverse needs of their peoples. Therefore, they create projects linked to sustainable development, almost always in dialogue with NGOs, Universities and government agents. However, achieving positive results from these initiatives and interactions with other structures depends on a lot of effort and the ability to learn from mistakes. In this sense, the objective of this article is to describe and discuss the experiences of the Paiter Suruí people from Indigenous land Sete de Setembro (TISS) in the search for sustainable development. For this purpose, bibliographical research was used and, in addition, an interview with one of the representatives of an indigenous association in order to update some information collected during the bibliographical research. Even under external pressures on their territory, the Paiter Suruí people have demonstrated over the years great capacity for agency, such as the creation of the Pamine reforestation projects and REDD+. The life experience of the Paiter Suruí points to the perspective of sustainability desired in the 2030 Agenda, for promoting food production, preserving the ecological integrity of the territory, for integrating the economic, social, cultural, ecological and ethical dimensions, taking care of the land, of water, biodiversity and climate A timeline of the experiences of sustainable projects is presented.     Muitas comunidades indígenas buscam em seu território meios de obter renda a fim de suprir as diversas necessidades de seus integrantes. Para tanto, criam projetos atrelados ao desenvolvimento sustentável, quase sempre dialogando com ONGs, Universidades e agentes governamentais. Contudo, alcançar resultados positivos dessas iniciativas e das interações com outras estruturas depende de muitos esforços e da capacidade de aprender com os erros. Nesse sentido, o objetivo deste artigo é descrever e discutir as experiências do povo Paiter Suruí da Terra indígena Sete de Setembro (TISS) pela busca do desenvolvimento sustentável. Para tanto utilizou-se a pesquisa bibliográfica e documental e, complementarmente, entrevista com um dos representantes de uma associação indígena a fim de atualizar algumas informações levantadas durante as pesquisas bibliográficas. Mesmo sob pressões externas acerca de seu território, o povo Paiter Suruí tem demonstrado capacidade de agência ao longo dos anos, com a criação dos projetos Pamine de reflorestamento e o REDD +. As experiências verificadas neste trabalho apontam para a perspectiva da sustentabilidade desejada na Agenda 2030, por promover a integridade ecológica do território, por integrar as dimensões econômicas, sociais, culturais, ecológicas e éticas, cuidando da terra, da água, da biodiversidade e do clima.
