  • Resumen
    • Difficulties were experienced while attempting to use published planktonic foraminiferal zonal schemes in the Eastern Pacific tropical belt on Leg 9 of the Deep Sea Drilling Project. The main difficulty was due to the selective destruction of some zonal markers with thin tests by sclution at depths greater than 10,000 feet. A zonal scheme for the late Eocene through to Pleistocene of the East Pacific is outlined and solution resistant foraminiferal species have been used to define zonal boundaries. Many of the zonal names have been previously used but a number of boundaries are redefined and some of the zones are new.
