Violência contra as mulheres e o patriarcado: um estudo sobre o sertão de Pernambuco

    This article investigates gender relations and power existing in violence against women in the interior of the Araripe in Pernambuco. The article was based on the theoretical contributions of Saffioti (1994; 2004; 2005) about gender and patriarchy, as well as national and international documents on violence against women. About locus of the hinterland, we use as references Albuquerque Jr. (2001; 2003) and Freyre (2003). From a methodological point of view, it is a case study about the reality of the Hinterland of Araripe, with a field research through case women in situations of violence, from a quanti-qualitative approach. The sources of statistical research were three sites that assist women in situations of violence. The data collected relate to the years 2010 to 2013. Interviews with women in situations of violence were carried out in 2014. We realize that despite understand the aggressions that suffer as a situation of violence, women minimize the severity. Even not realizing just in the role of wife and mother, the greater participation of backlands women in public space have not reconfigured gender relations and power in the private sector, maintaining the patriarchal culture that imposes the subordination of women before men.

    O presente artigo investiga as relações de gênero e de poder existentes na violência contra as mulheres no sertão do Araripe de Pernambuco. O artigo foi baseado nos aportes teóricos de Saffioti (1994; 2004; 2005) sobre gênero e patriarcado, além de documentos nacionais e internacionais sobre a violência contra as mulheres. Sobre o lócus do sertão, utilizamos como referências Albuquerque Jr. (2001; 2003) e Freyre (2003). Do ponto de vista metodológico, trata-se de um estudo de caso sobre a realidade do Sertão do Araripe, com uma pesquisa de campo, a partir de uma abordagem quanti-qualitativa. As fontes da pesquisa estatística foram três locais que atendem mulheres em situação de violência. Os dados coletados referem-se aos anos de 2010 a 2013. As entrevistas com mulheres em situação de violência foram realizadas em 2014. Concluímos que, apesar de compreender as agressões que sofrem como uma situação de violência, as mulheres minimizam a gravidade. Mesmo não se percebendo apenas no papel de esposa e de mãe, a maior participação da mulher sertaneja no espaço público ainda não reconfigurou as relações de gênero e de poder no âmbito privado, permanecendo a cultura patriarcal que impõe a subordinação das mulheres diante dos homens.
