    Este artículo pretende analizar los roles de género y su influencia en las relaciones interpersonales de las familias del cantón Portoviejo en El Guabito, ciudadela El Porvenir. Este trabajo se acerca a las diversas concepciones y construcciones teóricas que definen el concepto de género. La metodología utilizada fue de enfoque mixto, de tipo cuantitativo. Se trabajó en una investigación de campo, con las actividades en el contexto objeto de estudio. La muestra estuvo constituida por 100 familias, que conforman la información del instrumento que fue aplicado en el cantón Portoviejo, sitio El Guabito, Ciudadela El Porvenir. Entre los resultados destaca que las familias de este estudio se caracterizan por ser tradicionales, nucleares con hijos, están unidos por convivencia (concubinato), las edades que prevalecen se ubican entre 50 y 60; el hombre trabaja y provee las provisiones necesarias en el hogar, su educación se ubica predominantemente en Educación Secundaria, la mujer es la que realiza todas las actividades domésticas, no se interesan mucho en sus relaciones interpersonales, aunque algunos padecen depresiones y ansiedad, la mayoría dice tener bienestar. Entre las conclusiones destaca: Analizar el concepto de género y la influencia que hay en el entorno familiar permite realizar una serie de reflexiones y puntos de vista sobre diferentes autores, que trasladan hacia la raíz de las causas de la desigualdad que existe entre mujeres y hombres.

    This article aims to analyze the gender roles and their influence on the interpersonal relationships of the families of the Portoviejo canton in El Guabito, El Porvenir citadel. This work approaches the different conceptions and theoretical constructions that define the concept of gender. The methodology used was a mixed approach, of a quantitative type. We worked on a field investigation, with the activities in the context under study. The sample consisted of 100 families, which make up the information of the instrument that was applied in the Portoviejo canton, El Guabito site, Ciudadela El Porvenir. Among the results, it stands out that the families in this study are characterized by being traditional, nuclear with children, they are united by coexistence (concubinage), the prevailing ages are between 50 and 60; the man works and provides the necessary provisions in the home, their education is predominantly in Secondary Education, the woman is the one who carries out all the domestic activities, they are not very interested in their interpersonal relationships, although some suffer from depression and anxiety, the majority He says he is well-being. Among the conclusions, the following stand out: Analyzing the concept of gender and the influence that exists in the family environment allows for a series of reflections and points of view on different authors, which move towards the root causes of the inequality that exists between women and men
