    La activación de la Directiva de Protección Temporal para hacer frente a la crisis ocasionada por la invasión rusa de Ucrania supone un hecho sin precedentes. Hasta la fecha, la UE nunca había recurrido a este instrumento y había optado por una política centrada en el control férreo de las fronteras exteriores, la securitización y la externalización de las migraciones. La UE tiene por delante importantes retos en materia de migración y asilo, y debe seguir creciendo en la construcción de una política migratoria común no discriminatoria, consecuente con los valores que promulga y respetuosa con los derechos humanos.

    The activation of the Temporary Protection Directive to deal with the crisis caused by the Russian invasion of Ukraine is unprecedented. Until now, the EU has never made use of this instrument and has opted for a policy focused on tight control of external borders, securitisation and the externalisation of migrations. The EU faces major challenges in the area of migration and asylum and must continue to grow in building a common migration policy that is non-discriminatory, consistent with the values it promulgates and respectful of human rights
