This article aims to provide an exploration of two fundamental texts about Down syndrome published in Barcelona: El teu nom és Olga (1986), by Josep Espinàs, and Ignorant la SD (2018), by Andy Trias Trueta. The theoretical frame that guides this exploration is composed of North American studies of disability, and the analysis also underscores a few transatlantic connections. G. Thomas Couser’s contribution to the study of life writing is fundamental, and the article suggests that both autobiography and co-biography can be variations on this concept of writing. The result blends together the details of the recent history of disability in Barcelona with an emphasis on the human rights of the community of persons living with Trisomy 21 in Catalunya today.
