«Canciones de hogar», la sección más breve de Los heraldos negros, está compuesta por cinco poemas, cuatro de los cuales se desarrollan en el contexto del hogar, en un ambiente íntimo y familiar, de marcado carácter subjetivo, anímico y espiritual, casi siempre dominado por la imagen del padre. La dimensión lineal del tiempo combina el presente con el pasado, con un fuerte carácter psicológico. La integración de las tres magnitudes —presente, pasado y futuro— solo se da en el poema «Enereida». La perspectiva de construcción de los poemas es personal, como algo primordial que le ocurre, siente y preocupa al propio enunciador; por tanto, las demás personas no se sienten o no nos consideramos representados. El título es connotativo y bisémico, pues estrictamente no alude a ninguna canción o melodía, sino al ambiente íntimo y hogareño, transido de nostalgia, lejanía, añoranza y también de presagio de la muerte inexorable. Los posibles significados destacan el valor del hogar, el amor al padre, la ausencia del hermano, la sensación de vacío y soledad. El lenguaje parte de un sustrato popular, pero dotado de una riqueza artística admirable.

«Songs of Home», the shortest section of The Black Heralds, is composed of five poems, four of which are developed in the context of the home, in an intimate and family environment, with a marked subjective, emotional and spiritual character, almost always dominated by the image of the father. The linear dimension of the time combines the present with the past, with a strong psychological character. The integration of the three magnitudes —present, past and future— only occurs in the poem «Enereida». The perspective of construction of the poems is personal, as something primordial that happens, feels and worries the enunciator himself; therefore, other people do not feel or consider themselves represented. The title is connotative and bisemic, because strictly it does not allude to any song or melody, but to the intimate and homelike atmosphere. The possible meanings highlight the value of the home, the love of the father, the absence of the brother, the feeling of emptiness and loneliness. The language starts from a popular substrate, but endowed with an admirable artistic wealth.
