Resumen de Familia y Escuela: una relación de mitigación e integración

La estructura de la familia, sus raíces e historia, nos brinda un mapa claro de cómo existen y se relacionan con la educación de sus hijos e hijas mediante la estructura social de la escuela. Miramos la historia de la familia pre y post industrial en Puerto Rico para conocer su evolución y las influencias y valores presentes en la educación actual. Tanto el capital social y cultural de los padres y madres, siguen siendo determinantes para el futuro éxito de la educación de sus hijos e hijas, por lo que requiere que reconfiguremos el espacio vital de la escuela como uno que trasciende el hogar y la escuela. Se explora la relación Familia y Escuela para plantear una nueva relación basada en corresponsabilidad. A la luz de la pandemia, las prioridades requieren que los educadores y gestores de políticas públicas se acerquen a esta relación con miras a mitigar lo perdido, en cuanto a tiempo y aprendizaje de los educandos, mientras traza un nuevo camino hacia integrar a la familia en un nuevo binomio de la Familia-Escuela.

The family as a social entity, its roots and history, gives us a map of how they exist and relate to the education of their sons and daughters through the social structure of the school. We look at the history of the pre and postindustrial family in Puerto Rico to learn about its evolution and the influences and values present in current education. Both the social and cultural capital of the parents, continue to be decisive for the future success of the education of their sons and daughters, which requires that we reconfigure the vital space of the school as one that transcends the home and the school. We provide a theoretical review of the Family and School relationship to consider a new association based on co-responsibility. In light of the pandemic, the priorities call for educators and public policy managers to approach this relationship with a view to mitigating what was lost, in terms of time and learning of students, while charting a new path towards integrating the family in a new Family-School binomial.
