Resumen de Topology optimization design for thermal buckling criterion with the size effect

Ning Gan, Qianxuan Wang

  • Topology optimization with classical mechanics has already made tremendous advances for macroscopic structure in the last few decades. However, size effects are detected from small-scale structures when the structure's feature size is reduced to the micro or nano level. To tackle this problem, the Solid Isotropic Material with Penalization method (SIMP) is merged with the modified couple stress theory to explore the size effect on the topology optimization. Furthermore, temperature effect and buckling requirement are taken into consideration in this framework. Finally, several examples are provided to illustrate the size effects on the topology optimization and mechanical behavior.
