  Resumen: La participación ciudadana constituye una alternativa necesaria y eficaz para preservar y restaurar la calidad visual del paisaje. La comunidad "La Pedrera”, ubicada en el mu nicipio "Bayamo” posee viviendas en mal estado constructivo, regular estado de las fa chadas de las empresas e industrias, inadecuado manejo de los residuos sólidos y baja calidad estética de jardines y patios presentes en el área. Es por ello que el objetivo del estudio es visualizar el papel que juega la participación ciudadana en el paisaje visual de la comunidad "La Pedrera”. Los métodos utilizados fueron: la Encuesta con las técnicas del Cuestionario Grupal, la Entrevista Semi-Estandarizada y la Observación Participativa, además se utilizó la Investigación Acción - Participación. Las metodologías de la U.S.D.A. Forest Service y el Bureau of Land Management de los Estados Unidos se emplearon para el estudio de la calidad y fragilidad paisajística. Los resultados obtenidos muestran la res ponsabilidad social en las condiciones paisajísticas de la comunidad, así como algunas alternativas de solución.

  Abstract: The work discusses the citizen participation such as necessary and effective alternative to preserve and restore the visual quality of the landscape. This investigation was de veloped in the community "La Pedrera”, in the municipality "Bayamo”. "The community has homes in poor construction, regulate the state of the facades of companies and industries, the inadequate management of solid waste and the low aesthetic quality of gardens and courtyards present in the area. The objective of the study is to visualize the role that citizen participation plays in the visual landscape of the "La Pedrera” community. The methods used were: The Survey with the techniques of the Group Questionnaire, the Semi-Standardized Interview and the Participatory Observation, in addition the Action - Participation Research was used. The methodologies of the U.S.D.A. The Forest Service and the United States Office of Land Administration were used to study the quality and fragility of the landscape. The results obtained show social responsibility in the land scape conditions of the community, as well as some alternative solutions.
