Resumen de Incisivo inferior: ¿responsable de la estética del perfil facial?

  Objetivo: mejorar la estética facial es una de las causas principales por las que los pacientes solicitan tratamiento ortodóncico ya que el tercio inferior de la cara tiene una gran influencia en su armonía, habiéndose relacionado siempre el papel de la posición del incisivo inferior con la estética. El propósito de este estudio ha sido corroborar la posible relación entre la posición de los incisivos, la de los labios y la proyección del mentón en los distintos tipos faciales.

  Material y métodos: se seleccionó una muestra aleatoria de 240 pacientes que habían acudido a la clínica universitaria para realizarse tratamiento de ortodoncia. En todos ellos se analizó la relación del incisivo inferior con respecto a distintas variables relacionadas con la estética del perfil blando según su patrón de crecimiento.

  Resultados: la posición del incisivo inferior está altamente correlacionada con la proyección del mentón, posición del labio superior e inferior y el ángulo mentolabial, independientemente del biotipo facial.

  Conclusiones: La posición del incisivo inferior es fundamental en la estética del perfil del tercio inferior facial.

  Obbjetive: improving facial aesthetics is one of the main reasons why the patients seek orthodontic treatment because the lower third of the face has a great influence in its harmony. The role of the incisor and aesthetics have been always related.

  The purpose of this study was to corroborate the possible relationship between the position of the incisors, the lips and the projection of the Chin in the different facial types has conducted this study.

  Material and methods: a random sample of 240 patients was selected and went to the university´s clinic for orthodontic treatment. The relationship of the lower incisor with respect to different variables related to the aesthetics of the soft profile according to their growth pattern was analyzed in all of them.

  Results: the position of the lower incisor is highly correlated with chin projection, position of upper and lower lip, and mentolabial angle independent biotype.

  Conclusions: the position of the lower incisor is fundamental in the lower third of the facial aesthetics profile.
