Resumen de Plató i els poetes: les raons d’una tensió irresolta

Francisco José Casadesús i Bordoy

  • Plato, in the Republic, was extremely critic with the poets and he even proposed their expulsion from the ideal city. In order to justify it, he mentioned an ‘ancient quarrel’ between poetry and philosophy, for which he blamed the former. However, if the causes of this tension are analized, it becomes clear that it was the result of other very specific facts: the defamation that Socrates suffered on behalf of the playwrights, specifically Aristophanes in the Clouds.
