Sistematización de experiencias en las capacitaciones realizadas en el uso y manejo del aceite vegetal usado

    El Laboratorio de Biotecnología de la UNAN-Managua a través del proyecto de reciclaje de aceite vegetal usado, desarrolló estrategias educativas ambientales, así como la aplicación de una metodología para obtener productos de innovación amigables con el medioambiente tales como el jabón de limpieza y el biodiesel a partir de aceite de vegetal usado. Debido a la problemática que presentaba la Empresa Nicaragüense de Acueductos y Alcantarillados Sanitarios (ENACAL) en la Planta de Tratamiento de Aguas Residuales (PTAR) de la ciudad de Managua por las grandes cantidades de grasas sólidas adheridas en las rejillas en la primera etapa del proceso de tratamiento obstaculizando su funcionamiento, se inició este proyecto realizando talleres de sensibilización sobre el uso y manejo del aceite vegetal usado y los efectos adversos que causa tanto al medioambiente como a la salud humana, siendo la comunidad universitaria la primera en ser concientizada. Posteriormente a través de un proyecto sometido por la Alcaldía Municipal de Managua en coordinación con el Laboratorio de Biotecnología y financiado por la Agencia de Cooperación Internacional del Japón (JICA) se ampliaron las campañas de sensibilización dirigidos a dueños de comiderías de los mercados Israel Lewites, Iván Montenegro y el Roberto Huembes, así como miembros de la alcaldía municipal de Managua y estudiantes de las distintas instituciones incluyendo a colegios de secundaria. Actualmente el Laboratorio de Biotecnología capacita anualmente a 600 estudiantes en temas ambientales promoviendo el reciclaje, así como la sensibilización a la población en general mediante la participación en congresos, talleres y ferias, asimismo es el principal centro de acopio de aceite de vegetal usado y cuenta con el permiso de operación para la elaboración del jabón de limpieza.

    The Laboratory Biotechnology from UNAN-Managua through the recycling project of used vegetable oil, developed a strategy for environmental education, as well as the application of a methodology to obtain environmentally friendly innovative products such as cleaning soap and biodiesel from used vegetable oil. Due to the problems presented by the Nicaraguan water supply and sewage company (ENACAL) in the Wastewater Treatment Plant (PTAR) of the city of Managua for the large amounts of solid fat adhered to the grids in the first stage of the process of treatment impeding the operation, this project began by conducting awareness workshops on the use and management of used vegetable oil and the adverse effects caused by the environment and human health, the university community were the first to be aware. Subsequently, through a project submitted by the City Hall of Managua in coordination with the Biotechnology Laboratory and funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), awareness raising campaigns were extended to the food court owners of the Israel Lewites, Iván Montenegro and Roberto Huembes market, as well as members of the municipal mayor of Managua and students of the different institutions including secondary schools. Actually, the Biotechnology Laboratory trains 600 students annually in environmental issues, promoting recycling, as well as raising awareness among the general population through participation in congresses, workshops and fairs, also the main collection center for used vegetable oil and has the operating permit for the preparation of cleaning soap.
