Resumen de Predictibilidad de la expansión dentoalveolar de la arcada inferior con el sistema Invisalign®

  Objetivo: el objetivo de este estudio es evaluar la predictibilidad de la expansión dentoalveolar de la arcada inferior con el sistema Invisalign®.

  Material y método: cincuenta y un pacientes fueron tratados con alineadores removibles de ortodoncia (alineadores Invisalign®, material SmartTrack®), de los que se extrajeron modelos digitales al final del tratamiento (ModT2) así como el ClinCheck® final (CkT2). Se seleccionaron 51 arcadas inferiores para medir la anchura de caninos, premolares y molares a nivel gingival y bucal.

  Resultados: la predictibilidad de la expansión en la arcada inferior mostró una muy buena precisión, siendo más predecible a nivel de cúspide con un 98-100%, que a nivel gingival con un 85-90%.

  Conclusiones: los alineadores del sistema Invisalign® (material SmartTrack®), demuestran ser una buena alternativa para el movimiento de expansión mostrando un alto grado de predictibilidad.

  Background: the aim of this study is to evaluate the predictability of orthodontic lower expansion with the Invisalign® system.

  Material and method: fifty-one patients were treated with orthodontic removable aligners (Invisalign® aligners, SmartTrack® material), from which digital models were extracted at the end of treatment (ModT2) as well as the final ClinCheck® (CkT2). 51 lower arches were selected to measure the canine, premolar and molar width at the gingival and buccal cuspid level.

  Results: the predictability of the expansion at the lower arch showed a very good accuracy, been more predictable at the cusp level with 98-100%, than at the gingival level with 85-90%.

  Conclusions: the Invisalign® system aligners (SmartTrack® material), prove to be a good alternative for expansion movement showing a high degree of predictability.
