    En este artículo se analizará el discurso racial en las novelas Amalia del argentino José Mármol y El Zarco del mexicano Ignacio Manuel Altamirano. Lo anterior tiene el fin de identificar las bases sobre las cuales se edifica el proyecto literario y denación de tales autores. Además, serán estudiadas las diferencias y similitudes sobre el tratamiento del género y de la religión en las obras, ejes temáticos que contribuyen a generar una nueva lectura de estas obras decimonónicas en el tiempo contemporáneo.

    This essay will analyze the racial discourse and stance within Amalia, by the Argentinian author José Mármol, and El Zarco, by the Mexican author Ignacio Manuel Altamirano, with the goal of identifying the base upon which the projects of a nation are depicted by these authors. Also, it will study the differences and similarities between these novels concerning gender and religion, thematicissues that contribute to a new approach to these xix century texts.
