    En este artículo se analiza un boceto elaborado por el pintor Saturnino Herrán en 1915, la finalidad de la pintura era que decorara el friso principal del Teatro Nacional. La obra estaba proyectada en tres paneles, en los que se sintetizaba la identidad del ser mexicano -una fusión de lo indígena y de lo español- pues lado izquierdo iría una ofrenda de los indígenas, al centro la imagen de la Coatlicue fusionándose con un Cristo, y en el derecho la ofrenda de los frailes y militares.

    This article analyzes a sketch made by the painter Saturnino Herrán in 1915, the purpose of the painting was to decorate the main frieze of the National Theater. The work was projected in three panels, in which the identity of the Mexican being was synthesized -a fusion of the indigenous and the Spanish- because on the left side there would be an offering of the indigenous people, in the center the image of the Coatlicue merging with a Christ, and, on the right, the offering of the friars and the military.
