Resumen de "Nobile e pugnace tempra di artista": Enrico Lionne, dalla Belle Époque alla Secessione romana

Antonio Coppola

  • Painter, illustrator, caricaturist, but also decorator, journalist, and 'art critic', the essay investigates the multifaceted personality of Enrico Lionne and from these highlights the salient moments of his humane and professional journey: his start in the lively journalistic surroundings of Naples at the end of the nineteenth century, his debut into Roman publishing and, successively into the artistic world in the mid 90s, when he began to assiduously exhibit in Rome and Venice, until reaching the exhibition of the Roman Succession in whose organization he was involved.

The analysis of graphic and pictorial productions, the reconstruction of early education, the relationship between famous artists and intellectuals and the presence of the most important exhibitions of the time, are indispensable aspects for reassembling an argument about a leading figure of Italian art between the 19th and 20th century that for far too long had to wait for a new critical contribution.
