Resumen de A obra De Exílio Provinciarum Transmarinarum Assistentiae Lusitanae Societatis Iesu e a expulsão dos jesuítas do Império português

The purpose of this article is to analyze the work De exílio Provinciarum Transmarinarum Assistentiae Lusitanae Societatis Iesu, authored by the Jesuit priest José Caeiro, considering the context in which it was produced and its main ideas. Caeiro wrote the manuscript between 1759 and 1777, in Rome, during his exile alongside hundreds of other religious of the Society of Jesus, who previously lived in the kingdom of Portugal and in the overseas regions of the empire. One can see, in the development of the text, an attempt by the religious to construct a speech in defense of the Jesuits in relation to the accusations suffered during the Pombaline administration, in the reign of d. José I. It is, therefore, a dispute of ideas and versions.

O objetivo deste artigo é analisar a obra De exílio Provinciarum Transmarinarum Assistentiae Lusitanae Societatis Iesu, de autoria do padre jesuíta José Caeiro, considerando o contexto em que foi produzida e as suas principais ideias. Caeiro redigiu o manuscrito entre os anos de 1759 e 1777, em Roma, durante seu exílio ao lado de centenas de outros religiosos da Companhia de Jesus, que anteriormente, viviam no reino de Portugal e nas regiões ultramarinas do império. Percebe-se, no desenvolvimento do texto, uma tentativa do religioso de construir um discurso de defesa dos jesuítas em relação às acusações sofridas durante a administração pombalina, no reinado de d. José I. Trata-se, portanto, de uma disputa de ideias e de versões.
