El presente artículo de investigación recorre la historia colombiana del Bogotazo a los exordios del Frente Nacional a través de la perspectiva diplomática italiana. La investigación, de tipo cualitativo y fundada en la documentación del Archivo Diplomático del Ministerio de Asuntos Exteriores Italiano, rescata la visión que los representantes de Roma dieron de una década crucial para la república latinoamericana y sus conexiones con el entorno regional e internacional. Los juicios de la misión italiana se presentan como una muestra de la atención que la diplomacia europea brindó a procesos y acontecimientos colombianos. Como tales, ellos pueden contribuir a una comprensión más exhaustiva de la historia de Colombia por ofrecer una lectura desde fuera que tenga en cuenta la mirada de observadores externos.

This research article describes the Colombian history from the Bogotazo to the beginning of the Frente Nacional looked through the perspective of the Italian diplomacy. The study, of qualitative type and based on records of the Historical Diplomatic Office at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, highlights the vision given by representatives of Rome about a crucial decade for the Latin American Republic and its connections with the regional and international situation. The evaluation of the Italian mission is presented as a sign of the attention given by the European diplomacy has given to Colombian processes and events. Therefore, they can contribute to a more comprehensive understanding of Colombia’s history by offering a different reading from the viewpoint of an outside observer.
