Resumen de Análisis computacional del uso de Twitter durante los debates presidenciales del 2022 en Costa Rica

¿Cómo se desarrolló la conversación alrededor de los candidatos presidenciales del 2022 en la red social Twitter durante los debates presidenciales de Repretel y Teletica? En esta nota de investigación exploratoria, utilizo técnicas computacionales del tipo análisis de diccionario y aprendizaje no supervisado para modelación de temas para explorar esta pregunta, con el objetivo de aportar a la creciente cantidad de investigaciones cuantitativas sobre redes sociales en Costa Rica. Mientras los resultados son netamente exploratorios y no prueban hipótesis, estos no sugieren una gran presencia de cuentas automatizadas durante el debate. Rodrigo Chaves, como tema, claramente dominó la conversación en Twitter, en particular, en relación con las acusaciones de acoso sexual en su contra.

In which ways did the conversation evolve around presidential candidates in 2022 in the social network Twitter during the presidential debates of Repretel and Teletica? In this exploratory research note, I use computational techniques such as dictionary analysis and unsupervised machine learning for topic modeling to explore this question, with the goal of adding to the growing number of quantitative research regarding social networks in Costa Rica. While the results are merely exploratory and do not test any hypothesis, they do not suggest a great presence of automated accounts during the debates. Rodrigo Chaves, as a topic, clearly dominated the conversation in Twitter, in particular with regards to the accusations of sexual harassment against him.
