    El artículo aborda el largo recorrido que han transitado las mujeres para hacer vigentes sus derechos políticos. Aun en condiciones adversas la lucha no ha cesado. Las mujeres han seguido luchando y excepcionalmente han encontrado maneras de librar los obstáculos que sistemáticamente frenan su acceso al poder formal-institucional. Han ido perfilando su ciudadanía en los movimientos sociales así como en exigencia y acompañamiento de las diversas reformas y sentencias en materia electoral, fortaleciendo sus liderazgos y la capacidad de incidir en los temas de su agenda. Se han obtenido algunos avances pero aún son insuficientes.

    The article discusses the long journey that women have traveled to force their political rights. Even under adverse conditions, the struggle has not ended. Women have continued to fight and exceptionally have found ways to overcome the obstacles that systematically hinder their access to formal institutional power. They have been shaping their citizenship in social movements as well as demand and support for the various reforms and decisions on electoral matters, strengthening their leadership and ability to influence the agenda items. There have been some advances but are still insufficient.
