The pandemic caused by the COVID-19 has had unprecedented repercussions in recent history. The effects of the disease and the measures taken to stop its spread have affected almost all spheres of human activity. Within the academic realm, one of the most affected activities has been conferences, congresses, and other forms of scientific meetings. As a result of the limitations caused by the quarantines and lockdowns, many events were postponed, moved to the digital format, or both. The digitalization of these reunions has presented new challenges and opportunities for academia. In this note, we explore the consequences, both positive and negative, of conference digitalization in the areas of archaeology and biological anthropology in Argentina and its possible role in the future of the discipline.
