Resumen de En apoyo a la Revolución: imágenes de solidaridad y prácticas vinculadas al cine entre Uruguay y Cuba (1960-1964)

  Este artículo explora las relaciones de Uruguay y Cuba a través de las imágenes y las prácticas relacionadas con el quehacer cinematográfico al inicio de los años sesenta. En la primera parte, se analizan los registros de los uruguayos manifestándose en apoyo a la Revolución en las ediciones del Noticiero Latinoamericano del Instituto Cubano de Arte e Industria Cinematográficos (Noticiero ICAIC Latinoamericano) entre 1960 y 1964 para mostrar la visibilidad que tuvieron en el noticiero las expresiones de apoyo y las manifestaciones del movimiento de Solidaridad con Cuba en Uruguay. Este movimiento se expresó cotidianamente para defender el derecho de autodeterminación de la isla, denunciar agresiones y concientizar al pueblo uruguayo de que la Revolución era «una parte inseparable del proceso liberador latinoamericano» (Solidaridad de la clase obrera..., 1960, p. 10). En la segunda parte, el artículo recupera y reflexiona sobre el lugar que ocuparon las producciones del ICAIC (documentales y noticieros) en las acciones de esa militancia durante el mismo período.

  This article explores the relations between Uruguay and Cuba through the images and practices related to filmmaking in the early 1960s. In the first part, I analyze the records of Uruguayans demonstrating their support for the Revolution in the editions of the Noticiero Latinoamericano of the Instituto Cubano de Arte e Industria Cinematográficos (Noticiero ICAIC Latinoamericano) between 1960 and 1964 to show the visibility that the expressions of support and demonstrations of the Solidarity with Cuba movement in Uruguay had in the newsreel. This movement expressed itself on a daily basis to defend the island’s right to self-determination, denounce aggression and make Uruguayan people aware that the Revolution was “an inseparable part of the Latin American liberating process” (Solidaridad de la clase obre-ra..., 1960, p. 10). In the second part, I recover and reflect on the place occupied by ICAIC productions (documentaries and newsreels) in the actions of this militancy during the same period.
