  • Resumen
    • Transit spaces are vital in the interlinking of the urban and social network. Interconnection, movement and technology materialize in these spaces. These are the characteristics that define contemporary society. This paper examines how these urban spaces are constructed through the practices and customs that take place in them, revealing the discourses and relations that are established in cities today. We will use the Barcelona Underground as an illustrating case. The article begins by looking at transit spaces and then describes the proposal to investigate urban spaces using urban ethnography, defending the recuperation of data-gathering techniques which are sensitive to the main characteristic of modern society: movement. The specific case of the Barcelona Underground is discussed along with the discourses recorded there. Finally, the article will reflect on how constant movement has become a way of life which transforms habits and spaces.
