ZENTRALFLUGHAFEN THF ist ein Dokumentarfilm über die temporäre Unterkunft für Geflüchtete in den Hallen des ehemaligen Flughafens Tempelhof am Rand des Tempelhofer Feldes in Berlin. Ausgehend von dem spezifischen Ort des Flughafens, seiner Geschichte und der Nutzung als Flüchtlingsunterkunft bringt der Film ästhetisch die Gewalt zum Ausdruck, die bis an den Grund dessen reicht, was wir ‚Infrastruktur‘ nennen. Die Analyse dieser ästhetischen Momente führt zur Frage, die für das Verhältnis von Flucht und Mobilität, Infrastruktur und Gewalt zentral ist: die Frage nämlich, was Gemeinbesitz heißt und wem die Welt gehört, ja, ob sie überhaupt unter die Kategorie des Eigentums fällt, bzw. fallen kann. Bezugspunkte für die Analyse des Films bilden die Ästhetik von Deleuze, die Rechtstheorie von Kant und die Kritik der Gewalt von Walter Benjamin.

Central Airport THF is a documentary about the temporary refugee housing in the halls of the former Tempelhof Airport, located at the edge of Berlin’s Tempelhof Field. As if by accident, the director contrasts arrested life in the adapted hanger with the mobility of life in the politically contested Tempelhof Field park adjacent to it. Starting out from the specific locality of Central Airport Tempelhof, as well as its architecture, history, and present use as refugee housing, the film employs aesthetic means to render a violence affectively knowable that extends to the very foundation of what we call “infrastructure.” The analysis of these aesthetic moments leads to questions that are only rarely addressed in the context of displacement and asylum but that are no less central to the relationship between displacement and mobility: What is joint ownership? Who Owns the World? Does the world fall – and can it even fall – under the category of property or ownership?
