    Este estudio pretende clarificar en alguna medida la importancia de la regencia de Argel en tiempos del padre Ximénez, en el contexto de las relaciones entre la Monarquía Hispánica y el norte de África. Los rasgos fundamentales de estas relaciones se establecieron desde los albores del siglo XVI hasta los inicios del siglo XVIII; período que corresponde con la estancia argelina del trinitario calzado en su calidad de predicador mayor del hospital de la Santísima Trinidad (1718-1720), y a la redacción de los tomos de su Diario de Argel. A continuación, se estudiará la actividad corsaria argelina y su evolución a lo largo de las tres centurias de la modernidad. Asimismo, el cautiverio de todo un conglomerado cristiano en los diferentes recintos de reclusión de Argel como su incidencia directa, hasta su redención por parte de padres redentores de la Santísima Trinidad Redención de Cautivos

    This study aims at clarifying to some extent the importance of the Regency of Algiers at the time of Father Ximénez, in an era where the context of relations between the Spanish Monarchy and North Africa reached its ascendency. The fundamental features of these relations were established from the dawn of the 16th century to the beginning of the 18th century. It was a period which corresponded to the presence of the Trinitarian and his capacity as a Major Preacher of the hospital of the Holy Trinity in Algiers (1718-1720) to writing the volumes of his Diary of Algiers. Then, we will study and shed light on the Algerian corsair activity and its evolution throughout the three centuries of modernity. Furthermore, this article targets the captivity of a whole Christian conglomerate in different places of confinement in Algiers, until their rescue and redemption by the redeeming Fathers of the Holy Trinity calling for Redemption of Captives
