  Las Entidades de Ahorro y Crédito Popular (Cooperativas) constituyen un segmento importante dentro de los servicios financieros que se prestan en diferentes países y que han tenido un desarrollo vertiginoso al satisfacer demandas y necesidades de numerosas masas poblacionales.

  Se presentan algunas consideraciones asociadas al tratamiento del capital social en estas entidades sobre la base de la normatividad contable internacional vigente y donde a criterio de los autores existen una serie de incongruencias a las que hay que darles solución.

  The savings and credit agencies constitute an important segment inside of the financial services that are offered in different countries and have had a vertiginous development to satisfy demands and needs of numerous population masses.

  Some considerations are presented associated with the treatment of social capital in these businesses on the basis of the standing international normative accounting and where at the authors’ criteria, a series of incongruities exists for which must be given solution.
