    Se conservan algunos testimonios portugueses sobre la Empresa de Inglaterra y el subsiguiente ataque inglés a Lisboa para entronizar al prior del Crato. Dichas memorias reflejan tanto el miedo y el escepticismo de la población como la división de lealtades entre los fidalgos. Por otro lado, las imágenes teatrales y gráficas de Lisboa como reina de un imperio marítimo y católico (dos caracteres que darán sentido a la guerra contra unos herejes venidos por mar) contrastan con el relato de prodigios en torno al sentido y desenlace de aquellas dos empresas.

    Some Portuguese testimonies are preserved about the Great Enterprise against England and the following English attack on Lisbon to enthrone the Prior of Crato. These memories reflect both the fear and skepticism of the population and the division of loyalties among gentlemen. Furthermore, the theatrical and graphic images of Lisbon as queen of a maritime and Catholic Empire (two characters that will make sense of the war against heretics who arrived by sea) contrast with the accounts of wonders related to the meaning and outcome of those two Enterprises.
