Resumen de Potencial de la industria vehicular en América Latina: hacia una movilidad sostenible y descarbonizada

  Este artículo evalúa el progreso actual y el potencial futuro de la industria de vehículos eléctricos en América Latina, con el objetivo de identificar las oportunidades y desafíos para lograr una transición hacia una movilidad sostenible y descarbonizada en la región. La metodología empleada fue de enfoque mixto, combinando técnicas cuantitativas y cualitativas, con el uso de fuentes secundarias de información y análisis de expertos en la materia. Los resultados muestran que, aunque la industria de vehículos eléctricos en la región está en constante crecimiento, todavía existen barreras y desafíos en la implementación de políticas gubernamentales y en la infraestructura de carga y disponibilidad de modelos de vehículos eléctricos. Por lo tanto, es necesario un esfuerzo coordinado y continuado entre los gobiernos, la industria y la sociedad para lograr una transición energética exitosa y alcanzar una movilidad más sostenible y descarbonizada en América Latina.

  This article assesses the current progress and future potential of the electric vehicle industry in Latin America, with the aim of identifying opportunities and challenges to achieve a transition towards sustainable and decarbonized mobility in the region. The methodology employed was of a mixed approach, combining quantitative and qualitative techniques, with the use of secondary sources of information and analysis by experts in the field. The results show that although the electric vehicle industry in the region is constantly growing, there are still barriers and challenges in the implementation of government policies and in the charging infrastructure and availability of electric vehicle models. Therefore, a coordinated and continuous effort among governments, industry, and society is necessary to achieve a successful energy transition and attain more sustainable and decarbonized mobility in Latin America.
