¿Tiempo de renovación de los estudios CTS?

    Desde por lo menos los años de 1980s hay un cambio paradigmático, pasando de un modelo de desarrollo nacional a uno global. Al mismo tiempo, igualmente paradigmático es el reconocimiento de la importancia de la participación de las poblaciones a las que se dirige la labor de los investigadores científico-técnicos y que forma parte de las realidades que investigan. Entre los próximos pasos está la revisión de la dimensión geopolítica, que actualmente toma fuerza renovada. La ciencia fue un elemento integral del desarrollo del orden mundial que se gestó durante la Guerra Fría. El peso de las ciencias en las economías políticas nacionales pasó a depender de las relaciones internacionales y llegó a canalizarlas. Un orden, inestable y multipolar, acompañó a las relaciones internacionales. Sin embargo, el mundo sigue cambiando y creando novedad. Los conglomerados urbanos en todas partes se vuelven más diversos y mezclados. Gente de diversos orígenes nacionales y raciales comparten los mismos espacios, son más jóvenes y crecen más rápidamente. Nos ayudan a avanzar más en un siglo donde la diversidad aparece como la firma de la demografía humana. Hay que buscar activamente la promoción de la igualdad y otras formas equitativas de convivencia entre los seres humanos y en general entre los seres vivos del planeta. Cada situación nacional es única, pero hoy las interconexiones y las interdependencias nos obligan a atender al mismo tiempo varios frentes, el local, el nacional, el regional y el global.

    Since at least the 1980s we witness a paradigmatic change, going from a model of national development to a global one. At the same time, equally paradigmatic, is the acknowledgment of the importance of the participation of the populations to which the labor of scientific-technical researchers is aimed and who are part of the realities they investigate. Among the tasks ahead is the revision of the geopolitical dimension, which is currently taking renewed strength. Science was an integral element of the development of the world order that was managed during the Cold War. The weight of science in national political economies has only come to depend on international relations and has led to channeling them. An order, unstable and multipolar, accompanied international relations. However, the world continues changing and creating novelty. Urban conglomerates everywhere become more diverse and mixed. People from different national and racial origins share the same space, are younger and grow faster. It helps us to advance more in a century where diversity appears as the signature of human demography. We must actively seek the promotion of equality and other equitable forms of coexistence between human beings and in general among living beings on the planet. Each national situation is unique, but today the interconnections and interdependencies force us to attend at the same time several fronts, local, national, regional, and global.
