    El siguiente ensayo es una aproximación a la reconstrucción histórica de formas organizativas (instituciones, asociaciones, consejos, organismos, entre otros) vinculadas a la asistencia, la educación y la sanidad que fueron conformándose en el contexto de la modernización estatal en la provincia de Santiago del Estero entre finales de siglo XIX y principios del XX. Dichas instituciones (asociaciones de diverso grado y tipo) fueron progresivamente moldeando el escenario público, así como incorporándose en tanto pieza de la incipiente estructura administrativa del Estado; a la vez que daban cuenta de las manifestaciones de la cuestión social de la época.

    The following essay is an approach to the historical reconstruction of organizational forms (institutions, associations, councils, agencies, among others) linked to assistance, education and health that were formed in the context of state modernization in the province of Santiago del Estero between the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. These institutions (associations of varying degrees and types) were progressively shaping the public scene as well as incorporating themselves as a piece of the incipient administrative structure of the State; at the same time that they gave an account of the manifestations of the social question of the time.
