Resumen de Identity, social practices and values of the pilgrims on the Portuguese Inner Way to Santiago de Compostela

Pedro Azevedo, Xerardo Pereiro

  • The objective of this chapter is to make a comparison between the identities and values of the Portuguese tourist-pilgrims and the foreign tourist-pilgrims on the Portuguese Inner Way of Santiago de Compostela (PIWSC). There are differences between the motivations of the pilgrims according to their nationality, gender, age, education and other identity variables, including social action, like the option for a less-travelled way and the type of travelling by which pilgrims undertake their journey.
