Resumen de Testimonios latentes de un pasado remoto. El “Envarysal de reloso”, una presa ¿romana? al sur de Ciudad Rodrigo

A partir de un documento medieval fechado a fines del siglo XII, que contiene la delimitación entre los concejos de Sabugal y Ciudad Rodrigo al comienzo del proceso repoblador de la región, se trata de verificar la importancia supralocal y territorial que debieron jugar ciertos hitos o marcos para las poblaciones autóctonas, antes de la colonización, y que perdurarán a través del tiempo sobre el paisaje, ya sean estos, referentes de tipo natural o de origen artificial. Entre estos últimos, destaca sobre los demás, en el texto analizado, la alusión a la presa o embalse del arroyo Rolloso, cuyos restos arqueológicos son aún hoy en día visibles. A la espera de una excavación, tratamos de apuntar datos acerca de su construcción original, atendiendo a otros casos peninsulares y al uso que hubieron de tener las aguas desde su captación y su traslado hasta la ciudad de Irueña.

Based on a medieval document dated at the end of the 12th Century, which contains the delimitation between the councils of Sabugal and Ciudad Rodrigo at the beginning of the repopulation process of the region, our aim is to verify the supra-local and territorial importance that certain milestones and landmarks had played for the native populations before the colonization, and which will last over time on the landscape, whether these referents are from a natural or an artificial origin.
Among the natural ones, the reference to the dam or reservoir of the Rolloso stream, of which remnants are still visible today, stands out from the others in the analyzed text. Waiting for future archaeological excavations, we are trying to record more data about its original construction, taking into account other Peninsular cases and the use of water that had to have from its collection and transfer to the locality of Irueña.
