    En las décadas finales del siglo XVI, la ciudad de Córdoba alcanzó su momento de mayor florecimiento artístico y cultural de toda la Edad Moderna. La mayor parte de la actividad urbana de sus habitantes quedó concentrada en torno al núcleo municipal junto a la Plaza de la Corredera, que configuró su espacio -luego reedificado en la centuria posterior-gracias a la intervención de importantes arquitectos cordobeses del momento como Juan de Ochoa, quien diseñó el edificio de la Cárcel (que incluyó la Casa del Corregidor)y la denominada “Pared Blanca” pensada para presidir las celebraciones y eventos municipales. A través del estudio de las actas capitulares del Archivo Municipal de la ciudad es posible acercarse a los intereses del consistorio, a su afán de representatividad social y al mecenazgo de algunas de sus construcciones más emblemáticas que marcaron el pulso vital de la institución a lo largo de la centuria del Quinientos.

    In the last decades of the 16th Century, the city of Cordova reached its moment of greatest artistic and cultural boom during the Modern Age. Most of the urban activity of its inhabitants was concentrated around the municipal nucleus, next to the popular Corredera ́s Square, which configured its space - later rebuilt in the following century- thanks to the intervention of important architects, such as Juan de Ochoa, who designed the Jail building and Magistrate ́s House and the so called “Pared Blanca”, used to presideover the main municipal celebrations and events. Through the study of the capitular acts of the Municipal Archive of Cordova it is possible to know the interests of the city government, its zeal for power as representatives of the city, and the patronage of some of its main buildings that marked the development of the institution during the 16thCentury.
