  Los militares dieron el golpe de Estado en julio de 1936, dirigieron la guerra y se hicieron cargo de la justicia durante años. No solo por causas políticas sino también sociales y, en general, por contravenir el modelo de mujer que el régimen establecía y que durante la posguerra apenas experimentó evolución alguna, las mujeres fueron víctimas de castigos en diferentes grados. Los procesos judiciales del archivo de la II Región Militar con sede en Sevilla y los Archivos Militares Territoriales 23 y 24, que atendieron la mayoría de causas a mujeres de las provincias andaluzas nos permiten conocer la represión de género y la sociedad de posguerra así como las especificidades de los castigos impuestos a las mujeres andaluzas antifranquistas y a sus familias.

  The military staged the coup in July 1936, directed the war and took over justice for years.
