Resumen de Vocación turística y gestión del turismo urbano: un análisis cualitativo

El presente trabajo analiza la perspectiva de los gestores públicos de la actividad turística en los principales destinos urbanos del Ecuador con respecto al abordaje de la vocación turística del territorio. El objetivo de investigación se fundamenta en comprender la aplicación del término vocación turística del territorio, considerando su conocimiento sobre el tema y la relación con los procesos públicos ejecutados para el desarrollo los entornos urbanizados. La metodología de investigación es cualitativa, a través de entrevistas semiestructuradas a representantes públicos de los diferentes modelos organizacionales turísticos del país, generando un aporte significativo y novedoso, contextualizando la realidad de los procesos institucionales estatales con lo establecido por la literatura e investigaciones en el área. Encontrando, como hallazgos importantes la existencia de discrepancias entre la concepción del término, su abordaje, aplicación y ejecución en territorio por parte de los involucrados, ya que los mismos lo llegan a confundir con vocación territorial o potencialidad turística, además de una divergencia representativa entre las herramientas utilizadas por cada una de las organizaciones para su determinación, cuestiones que limitan el abordaje adecuado del constructo.

This work analyzes the perspective of public managers of tourism activity in the main urban destinations of Ecuador with respect to addressing the tourist vocation of the territory. The research objective is based on understanding the application of the term tourist vocation of the territory, considering its knowledge on the subject and the relationship with the public processes executed for the development of urbanized environments. The research methodology is qualitative, through semi-structured interviews with public representatives of the different tourist organizational models in the country, generating a significant and innovative contribution, contextualizing the reality of state institutional processes with what is established by literature and research in the area. . Finding, as important findings, the existence of discrepancies between the conception of the term, its approach, application and execution in the territory by those involved, since they confuse it with territorial vocation or tourist potential, in addition to a representative divergence between the tools used by each of the organizations for its determination, issues that limit the adequate approach to the construct.
