ResumoO objetivo desse ensaio é refletir criticamente sobre a condição atual de nossos mais modernos sistemas de inteligência artificial (IA), seus potenciais latentes, suas possibilidades técnicas promissoras, e também sobre suas intrínsecas limitações lógicas, estruturais e funcionais. Para tanto, tomaremos, como exemplo emblemático e objeto de estudo desta feita, o novo LaMDA do Google, que é um poderoso sistema de inteligência artificial especialista que processa linguagem verbal falada, logo, um sistema concebido e usado segundo a teoria fraca da IA, o que exclui – logo de saída e por si – qualquer hipótese plausível de consciência. AbstractThe objective of this essay is to critically reflect upon the current condition of our most modernartificial intelligence (AI) systems, their latent potentials, their promising technical possibilities, aswell as their intrinsic logical, structural, and functional limitations. In order to accomplish this, we willtake as an emblematic example and subject of study the new LaMDA by Google, which is a powerfulexpert artificial intelligence system that processes spoken language, thus a system designed andutilized under the weak theory of AI, which inherently excludes any plausible hypothesis ofconsciousness right from the outset.
