Resumen de Las lenguas romances no vienen del latín, ¿una hipótesis a tener en cuenta?

El objetivo de este trabajo es plantear si la teoría de que las lenguas romances no proceden del latín se puede considerar una hipótesis científica o cae dentro del terreno de las pseudociencias. Para ello se analizan dos libros recientes que presentan dicha teoría y se comparan con tres ejemplos más claros de obras pseudolingüísticas y con otra que, siendo una obra de carácter científico, ha estado sujeta a fuertes polémicas. La conclusión a la que se pretende llegar es que la hipótesis de que las lenguas romances tienen su origen en el latín, para que sea considerada científica, tiene que ser concebida como provisional y poder ser sometida a falsación, algo que intentan las dos obras analizadas.

The aim of this work is to see if the theory that the Romance languages do not stem from Latin can be viewed as a valid scientific hypothesis, or if it falls under the area of pseudoscience. To do that, we will analyse two recent books that present the said theory, comparing them to the three clearest examples of pseudo-linguistic works and with the other one which, being scientific in nature, has been the subject of heated discussions. The conclusion that we aim for is that the hypothesis that the Romance languages do have their origins in Latin, in order to be considered scientific, has to be seen as provisional and can be subjected to falsification, something that both analysed works are trying to do.
