    La Linfangioleiomiomatosis (LAM) es una enfermedad pulmonar poco frecuente y de causa desconocida que afecta a mujeres en edad fértil, se caracteriza por un crecimiento anómalo de células musculares que empiezan a crecer sin control, afectando a las vías aéreas, vasos linfáticos y sanguíneos, de modo que destruyen progresivamente el tejido pulmonar sano y éste va perdiendo su función. Puede cursar de forma asintomática o llegar a producir un deterioro severo del intercambio gaseoso con insuficiencia respiratoria fulminante.

    Lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM) is a rare lung disease of unknown cause, affecting women of childbearing age, characterized by an abnormal growth of muscle cells that begin to grow uncontrollably, affecting the airways, lymphatic and blood vessels, progressively destroying healthy lung tissue and causing it to lose its function. It can be asymptomatic or lead to severe impairment of gas exchange with fulminant respiratory failure.
