This article tries to know the participation of women and the orientation of women’s suffrage in the first elections in the history of thecountry where they could feel part of the political system. To do this, we have lowered the magnifying glass of analysis to the rural world, which has traditionally received less attention in political studies, and to the political action of women in these crucial elec- tions, whichmarked a turning point in the Republican period. The achievement of the set objective is given by the use of primary sources and by theimplementation of a new work methodology, through which we have been able to infer the various orientations of the female vote, seeking to enrich the interpretations of who women voted for and demystifying the stereotypical argument of female political conservatism.
