Resumen de Intervención educativa para la consolidación de habilidades en el manejo del idioma Inglés en estudiantes universitarios

  Los graduados de licenciatura en Turismo deben ser profesionales con amplios conocimientos de distintos idiomas, pero principalmente del idioma inglés, el cual constituye el idioma universal y el nexo de comunicación que con mayor frecuencia se utiliza a nivel mundial. Aplicar una intervención educativa para consolidar las habilidades del uso del idioma inglés en estudiantes de la carrera de licenciatura en Turismo. Se desarrolló una intervención educativa en 38 estudiantes del paralelo B, primer semestre de la carrera de Licenciatura en Turismo de la Escuela Superior Politécnica de Chimborazo. La intervención consistió en identificar las habilidades de los estudiantes en un inicio y a parir de ahí trazar estrategias y acciones educativas para consolidar las mismas; al final de intervención se compararon los resultados y se determinó la prueba de McNemar para identificar si existieron cambios significativos en los resultados obtenidos. Al inicio de la investigación se registraron niveles bajo de destreza en todas las habilidades del idioma inglés. Después de terminar la intervención se elevó considerablemente el manejo del idioma inglés en los estudiantes. Se evidenció una mejoría significativa en cuanto a la comprensión, habla, interpretación y escritura. La intervención educativa aplicada mejoró el nivel de destreza de los estudiantes de la carrera de Licenciatura en Turismo en torno a las habilidades relacionadas con el dominio del idioma inglés.

    Abstract: Introduction: Graduates in Tourism must be professionals with extensive knowledge of different languages, but mainly in the English language, which constitutes the universal language and the communication link that is most frequently used worldwide. Objective: to apply an educational intervention to consolidate the skills of the use of the English language in students of the degree in Tourism. Methods: an educational intervention was developed in 38 students of parallel B, first semester of the Bachelor of Tourism degree at the Polytechnic School of Chimborazo. The intervention consisted of identifying the students' abilities at the beginning and starting from there, drawing up educational strategies and actions to consolidate them; At the end of the intervention, the results were compared and the McNemar test was determined to identify if there were significant changes in the results obtained. Results: at the beginning of the investigation, low levels of skill were recorded in all English language skills. After finishing the intervention, the English language management in the students rose considerably. There was a significant improvement in understanding, speaking, interpretation and writing. Conclusions: the applied educational intervention improved the level of skill of the students of the Degree in Tourism around the skills related to english proficiency.
